Aquamat Manganese Dioxide Iron Removal Filter
WATER QUALITY PROBLEM
Increased levels of Iron and Manganese concentrations are the main cause of drinking water discolouration. Furthermore, discoloured water also leads to coloured stains on laundries and sinks, increased treatment costs, reduced treatment capacity and compromised equipment.

Solution
DMI-65® is a revolutionary filtration media with a proven track record in the removal of Iron, Manganese, Arsenic as well as Aluminium and other heavy metals under certain conditions. The media operates with a continuous injection of sodium hypochlorite at low residual levels (0.1 to 0.3 ppm) which eliminates the need for regeneration with Potassium Permanganate. The injection of Sodium Hypochlorite keeps the media free from bacterial bio-fouling or slime growth. Iron and manganese exist in bore water as bicarbonate. DMI-65 acts as an oxidation catalyst, it facilitates oxidation – precipitation – filtration
Filter Performance
Due to the infusion technology and the micro-porous structure of the matrix material the DMI-65 has an increased surface area and a higher load capacity for targeted iron and manganese. The unique microporous structure of DMI-65 efficiently removes dissolved iron to almost undetectable levels as low as 0.001 PPM and manganese to 0.001 PPM, with a small amount of chlorine and attention to pH.
Equipment Maintenance
An electrical connection is needed. It is essential to ensure incoming and outgoing water connections, as well as wastewater discharge lines.
Description
DMI65 removal technology is based on Manganese Dioxide catalytic conversion of Iron/Manganese into higher valence insoluble oxy-hydroxides that are then filtered out with an automated backwash filter valve.
The filter unit comprises a floor-standing reinforced fiberglass cylinder fitted with a time-set automated backwash valve.
Automatic Timer Control
The backwashing process is initiated by the elapsed time since the last backwash
Feed water bypass to service during backwash –
Provides a continuous supply of water even during the backwashing process
ADVANCED OXIDATION PROCESS DMI-65 is an extremely powerful silica sand-based catalytic water filtration media
- Certified by the Water Quality Association in accordance with NSF/ANSI 61
- High Oxidation Capacity
- Replacement frequency every 5-10 years
- Effective in removing up to 15 ppm iron and manganese. At higher iron and manganese levels a pre-oxidation stage is recommended
